Funeral services will be held Oct. 15 a St Joseph Catholic Church in Jefferson for Bernice Rohovit, 98, Iowa City, formerly of Jefferson.
Father Steve Brodersen will be celebrant for the Mass of the Resurrection. Soloist will be Amy Roberts, accompanied by Janet Sabus.
Interment will be at the Jefferson Municipal Cemetery.
Bernice Rohovit was born Madeline Bernice Wagner on January 14, 1924, in Plover, to John and Emma (Krischel) Wagner. Bernice graduated from West Bend High School in 1941. She entered nurse’s training at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Carroll, in 1942 and graduated as a registered nurse in 1945. She acquired special training in eye exams in Milwaukee, WI, and at the Chicago Eye Institute.
Bernice married Duane L. (Ike) Rohovit on November 13, 1948, in West Bend. The couple made their home in Jefferson, where their four children were born. Bernice was a hospital nurse at Greene County Hospital until becoming the first school nurse in the Jefferson Community School District in September 1965. She retired in June 1987. Her hobbies included gardening and quilting.
Bernice and Ike moved to Iowa City in May 2003. After Ike’s death in 2007, Bernice moved to Bickford Cottage. There, she passed away on October 9, 2022, at the age of 98. Bernice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Duane (Ike) Rohovit; brother Paul Wagner; and sister Ida Mae Berte.
Bernice is survived by her children Duane Jr. and his partner Angelito Sajor, Susan and her husband Mark Warner, Ron and his wife Josie, and Randy and his wife Tami. Also surviving are grandchildren Lindsey Warner, Stefanie Donnelly (Brett), Adam Beck (Melissa), Kelsey Ray (Zack), Justin Sidwell, Jennifer Curello, and Erica Huberman; great-grandchildren Landon Beck, Eliot Beck, Colette Donnelly, and Kira Huberman; and her sister Maxine McGary.
